2011 - 2012 Hunting Seasons (No dogs allowed)

Deer

  • Seasonal bag limit: not to exceed a total of two deer, and no more than one legal buck, no matter the combination of seasons and/or permits.
  • 3-Point Rule Applies / button bucks and young male deer with antlers shorter than two inches will count as bucks.
  • Check Stations - All DEER hunters are required to check all deer harvested during the muzzleloader and modern gun hunts at the Hobbs State Park- Conservation Area Maintenance Complex located at the intersection of Highway 12 and War Eagle Road.
  • Archery/Crossbow - Deer: October 1, 2011-February 29, 2012 (permit hunt; limit 2 - no more than one legal buck) Please remember that Hobbs is zone 320 and not zone 1 when you check in your deer.
  • IMPORTANT: ***Limited Archery hunting area during gun hunts check the park map for the correct Archery Only Zone
  • Youth Gun Deer: (youth permit hunt - 25 available; limit one deer of either sex) Nov 5-6, 2011
  • Muzzleloader Deer: (permit hunt - 150 available; limit one deer of either sex)  Nov 12-16, 2011
  • Modern Gun Deer: (permit hunt - 150 available; limit one deer of either sex)  Dec 3-7,2011

Other Game at Hobbs

  • Turkey: NO FALL SEASON ON HOBBS: NO SPRING 2011 SEASON (We are trying to build up our small turkey population)


  • Rabbit: September 1, 2011 to February 29, 2012 (Statewide bag limit)
  • Squirrel: May 21, 2011 - February 29, 2012 (Statewide bag limit)
  • Camping: Only permitted on the backpacking area of the Pigeon Roost Trail.
  • ATV's & Other Off-Road Vehicles are NOT permitted in the park.
  • Target Shooting: Limited to the free gun shooting range. Range closed during gun Deer Hunting Seasons
